Description:
This course is a modified WA CESCL that includes all of the WA criteria, but offers a section dedicated to the 1200C/1200CN permit requirements. This certification program provides background of stormwater regulations, an overview of Oregon state specific permit requirements (1200C/1200CN/1200CA), identifies tasks of being an inspector, and goes through an extensive list of different BMPs available in the market.
If you did not get your previous certification through the Academy, you will be required to supply proof of previous certification or be able to locate your name on the Department of Ecology CESCL Database website.
Upon completion, Learner will have met the requirements of the 1200C/1200CN/1200CA permit for construction activity certification and will receive a certification card valid for 3 years.
What You Will Learn/Learning Objectives:
- Permit requirements
- Requirements of a SWPPP or ESCP
- Inspection requirements and frequencies
- Operational BMPs - Process water management, phasing, solid waste management, etc.
- Physical BMPs - Perimeter covering, conveyance, etc.
- Treatment BMPs - flocculation, filtration, etc.
- Learn more about the tools and techniques to prevent erosion and reduce dirty water running off the project site
Prerequisites:
- Within 6 months of previous CESCL-WA or CESCL-OR certification expiration date
Course Expectations:
Upon the completion of each section there will be a knowledge check and/or quiz to complete that will help you take the exam.
YOU MUST PASS WITH A 70% PASSING GRADE ON THE EXAM.
The Learner has up to 5 consecutive days to complete the 8 hours of content to earn the CESCL certification. The Learner may go a their own pace within those 5 consecutive days but if not completed by the 5th day, the Learner will be required to re-register, pay again, and start over.
YOUR 5 CONSECUTIVE DAYS START THE MOMENT YOU REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE. DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL YOU ARE PREPARED TO BEGIN THE COURSE.
Upon completion, Learners will have met the requirements if the 1200C/1200CN/1200CA permit for construction activity certification and will receive a certification card valid for three (3) years.

This CESCL certification course is recognized as meeting the training and certification requirements of the Oregon 1200C/1200CN/1200CA permit requirements for the Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector (ESCI).
However, CWT Training Academy has created an Oregon specific course that includes all of the Washington information but has an additional section specific to 1200C and 1200CN requirements and recommends that those who have projects primarily in Oregon take the Oregon course.
Additionally, a CESCL certification can meet the requirements of the Oregon Department of Transportation for an Erosion and Sediment Control Manager (ESCM) after completing the ODOT exam. However, this CESCL program does not have reciprocity with the Alaska CESCL program.

ESC BMP Pocket Guide
This BMP pocket guide will assist you in making informed decisions when selecting BMPs that provide the best erosion and sediment control (ESC) for your project. Printed on waterproof paper, and spiral bound, it is a sturdy, easy to use, go-to tool for the jobsite. If you manage erosion and sediment control, you need the BMP Pocket Guide. It is the size of a cell phone and fits in your back pocket.
Special Notes for this Course:
5 Consecutive Days begins the moment a Learner is registered for this course. This course will NOT take the fill 5 days, but this amount of time provides Learners the ability to go at their own pace. In a traditional in-person version of this course, learning takes place during two 8 hour days, beginning in a classroom and ending on a field site. We eliminated those requirements and by taking the course on-demand, Learners have 3 additional days.
For example:
If you register at 9AM on Monday, you have until 9AM on Saturday to complete your certification. If you were to register at 2PM on Friday, you will have until 2PM on that following Wednesday to complete. YES, weekends do count!
We do understand that sometimes you can't start a course right away, and that's okay! We suggest holding off registering for this course until you are ready to get started so that you have as much of the full 5 consecutive days as possible to complete.
